NGV | Melbourne Design Week 2019

14-24 March 2019

200+ Talks, Exhibitions, Tours and Workshops Explore How Design can Shape the Future.

Australia’s leading annual international design event, Melbourne Design Week, will present its largest program to date, with over 200 events. Celebrating the best of local, national and international design, the expanding, state-wide festival is an initiative of the Victorian Government presented by Creative Victoria and the National Gallery of Victoria.

The program has been curated under the thematic pillars; Reconnecting with Birrarung, The War on Waste, Material Matters, Possible Futures and Inclusive Cities.

We highly recommend taking some time to read through the program and explore the different areas on offer, many of which either directly relate to, or hold key learnings that can be applied to the Fashion & Textile sector.

Here are a few highlights from just two of the thematic pillars;

This thematic pillar particularly resonates with many conversations currently underway in our local industry, with textile waste from the fashion sector a huge issue.
