Our members Jeanswest keep up their streak with the launch of their latest menswear collection, showcasing budding local designers and once again featuring 100% Australian designed and made product!
Today, Tuesday 29th November, Jeanswest launches its second 100% Australian designed & made menswear collection this month, showcasing 6 winning t-shirt designs by local design students. Jeanswest is becoming increasingly known for its contribution to Australian fashion in the areas of local manufacturing and education and, several months ago, launched the ‘Blank Canvas’ competition calling upon all budding designers to submit graphic tee designs based on the theme ‘home’.
Accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA), with the launch of Homespun Blank Canvas Jeanswest proudly introduces 6 new t-shirt designs, 6 beautiful interpretations of ‘home’ and 6 incredible home grown talents hailing from CTF Members RMIT and Monash universities in Melbourne: Summer Van by Ally Pedersen; Family History by Kiaya Byrne; Nature’s Wolf by Mitchell Alexandrou; The Heart of the Ocean by Bernadette Linda Widjaja; Mountains, Lakes and Trees by Amber Nuttall and; Waratah by Georgia Sedman.
Says RMIT Textile Design student Amanda Nuttall of her design, “After moving to Melbourne this year, the countryside around Ballarat, where I’m from, means a lot more to me. I’ve spent a lot of time in the area amongst the mountains, lakes and trees. To me the landscapes of country Victoria mean ‘Home’.”
The Blank Canvas capsule was produced on home soil in proud partnership with two highly regarded local suppliers: OCC Apparel - St Peters, New South Wales and Council of Textile & Fashion members ABMT Textiles - Melton, Victoria.
This collection launches on the back of Oxfam Australia’s ‘naughty or nice’ Christmas list announcement earlier this week, in which the organisation praised Jeanswest for manufacturing locally and always ensuring local collections are ECA accredited and, for recently publishing 80% of its factory partner list in a step towards full transparency.
Said General Manager of Product, Adam Lloyd, “Corporate Social Responsibility carries weight in many of the decision we make across our business, and transparency in manufacturing and education are two areas in which we are particularly active. Homespun Blank Canvas brings these two areas together with a locally made collection that supports locally grown talent. It’s also a lovely way to provide a memorable example to our future industry leaders, of what is possible on home soil.”
Soon after the Blank Canvas launch female customers can look forward to a Homespun tee collection of beach-inspired prints that pair timelessly back with denim shorts for an iconic Aussie summer look. The Homespun Blank Canvas menswear collection will be hard to miss and is available in sizes XS – XXXL, online and in selected stores across Australia.
