NSW Government | Innovation in Problem Wastes

Could this be an opportunity for you? The NSW Environment Protection Authority and NSW Environmental Trust are now taking expressions of interest for innovative recycling projects!

The NSW Government is looking for clever ideas to inform an upcoming innovation grant program providing up to $1 million (1:1 matched funding) for recycling projects. The NSW EPA and NSW ET are looking for genuinely innovative projects which will develop NSW's capacity to recover valuable resources from ‘problem’ wastes.

Problem wastes are wastes that often do not have existing mature markets or are contaminating waste streams that could otherwise be recovered if these materials were removed. They include everyday household and business items such as used tyres, rubber, computers, TVs, scrap metal residuals, soft plastics, treated timber and sanitary products.  These products contain precious metals, oils, organics or other equally valuable materials.

If you or your organisation can contribute to this exciting initiative then you need to submit a expression of interest form by the 29th February 2016 to wastestrategy.innovation@epa.nsw.gov.au.
